Rosemary pancakes with pears & maple syrup

Pictured above: breakfast this morning – rosemary pancakes with pear slices & maple syrup: a sweet and floury beginning to the day.

(On the subject of rosemary, I used fresh sprigs from my parents’ garden – and this is becoming a repetitive phrase of mine I know, but… fresh herbs, how I rejoice in you!)

Over the next few hours, I sustained myself with coffee, a cup of chocolate & coconut gelato, bread with banana slices & nutella. A naughty sugar-toothed kid I have been today, ripe for a visit from the Tooth Fairy.

I am now home this evening with my new copy of “A Homemade Life” by Molly Wizenberg (author of Orangette) open on my lap… reading it is a little like melting slowly into a warm loaf of banana & chocolate bread on a grey rainy day… hearty, familiar and gorgeous.
