Good moments

Just tell yourself, Duckie, you’re really quite lucky!
~ Dr. Seuss

There are these moments in life which cast a brilliant light on existence, like when you cook roast beef for the first time ever in your whole life, and your flatmate tells you “Mel, if I ever bring home a whole cow, can you cook it the same way you cooked this beef tonight?”

Or when you switch off the lights, close your eyes, and for some inconceivable reason – you giggle for the sheer joy of being alive.

Or when you get a dizzy spell in a public place, and worry that you’re about to pass out, but then you get all the way home and you still haven’t passed out. And it’s almost 11pm and you still haven’t passed out, and probably won’t till you fall asleep.

Or when you finish making cookie dough, shove your first batch in the oven and cry from exhaustion, and your flatmate gladwraps the rest of the dough, gives you a hug and suggests that it is bedtime.

Or when you get through a day you didn’t think you would survive, and the stars in the sky seem to be winking at you to say: “well done”.
