One sleepy evening flight later, I arrived in Auckland and then we were driving straight from the airport, overnight bag and all, to Delicious for – exactly what we both hoped for – a delicious celebration meal (and a much anticipated catch up session, of course).
Ian’s birthday fell earlier in the week, and even though I was late – a celebration remained necessary. It’s funny to think that just 3 years ago, we were strangers, meeting through the case of me needing a flatmate, him needing a flat – and now, here we are, friends after the joys and tantrums of flatting and uni. (Once we got so mad at each other, it involved some phone book throwing and immediate intervention from our other flatmate.) I am immensely thankful that our friendship has survived those little storms!
Well, we both dug in eagerly to our ravioli – and my, it was so good (even my cold could not hide its deliciousness). I had pumpkin, amaretti, mustard fruit & sage butter ravioli – gentle, warm and tasty – and Ian had the equivalent with zucchini, provolone, lemon & sage butter… and though we were well and truly full, we were not strong enough to resist the lure of the dessert in the cabinet. Eventually, we stumbled to the car, possibly with beautiful smudges of cheesecake & tiramisu on our mouths? I am not sure now, but the night provided cover.
